Obituary of Reverend David Noel Stephens
March 1, 1948-September 5, 2024
Surrounded by family at home, the Reverend David (Dave) Stephens has peacefully ended his long cancer journey.
Dave was born to Maurice and Aileen Stephens in London, Ontario with siblings Beverley (Don), Paul (Sandi), and Ross (2012)(Nancy).
Dave met and married the love of his life, Linda Magoffin, in 1971 and had Ed, Sean (1976), Mark, and Sarah (Brian). Grandkidlets Rachel, Molly, and Ian brought sunshine and joy into Dave's life.
Everything Dave did, he did with curiosity and passion, whether it was earning 3 masters degrees from McMaster Divinity College, finding over 27,000 geocaches, or tracing his family history back 400 years by travelling to tiny villages in Wales, but his greatest passion was for people. There was always more room at Dave's table for all the people he met, adopted, and loved like family.
Dave was a valued member of the Ontario geocaching community, an active member of Hillside Church in London, and was pastor at Stoney Creek Baptist Church (Hamilton), First Woodstock Baptist Church, Egerton Street Baptist Church, and Central Baptist Sarnia.
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Church, London, 138 Thompson Rd., on Saturday, September 28, at 2 pm. Visitation held 1 hour prior.
Expressions of sympathy in the form of a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson's Society instead of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
