Obituary of Gerald Edward Ginsberg

It is with deep sadness and sorrow, the family announces the unexpected passing of Gerald Edward Ginsberg on Friday, May 4, 2013 in Naples, Florida. Gerry was born November 9, 1948 in London, Ontario. He was the youngest of three children born to Rueben and Irene Ginsberg. He was the loving husband and best friend of Barbara Ellen for 42 years and much loved father of Rachelle Ginsberg (Jeff) and Julie Clodfelter (Charles). He was the proud grandfather of Maya and Aleyda. Survived by his brother Bob (Barb) and sister Judy Somer (Mendel), brother-in-law Allan Cox (Rosemary) and many nieces and nephews. Gerry completed his B.A. in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University where he met his devoted wife, Barb. He started his career by returning to his hometown of London, Ontario where he worked for Parks and Recreation. He was General Manager of the Niagara Wine Festival, where it flourished into a world class festival under his direction. He also established the Niagara Ice Wine Festival during his time there. More recently, he was President of Festivals and Events Ontario and on the Board of Directors of Tourism Industry Association for the past four years. For the last 6 years, he was the General Manager of Canada Blooms in Toronto. Gerry loved all sports and especially a passion for golf. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved his positive outlook on life. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
