Obituary of Mary Grace Brady
Mary Grace Brady (nee McDermott)
January 12, 1923 – October 7, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Grace on Monday, October 7, 2019 in her 97th year at Country Terrace in Komoka. Each and every one of those years was filled with joy and passion. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Bob. Together they attended and chronicled every family milestone and showered us with their love and generosity. After retiring from a long career with the Bank of Montreal in London, Mary went directly over to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she volunteered for the next 30 years. Many of those years were spent comforting and caring for children awaiting and coming from surgery. Both she and Bob were dedicated to giving back to the community and did so through Shriners, the hospital, the Canada Games and many other worthwhile charities and fundraisers. Mary cherished her family and her friends and devoted herself to keeping everyone connected and cared for. She will be sadly missed.
Mary was born and raised in Tavistock, a daughter of the late Mary and Stanley McDermott. She leaves behind her cherished brother John McDermott (Jean) and beloved sister Audrey Weston. She will be sadly missed by her nephews, nieces and their families: Mike and Veronica McDermott (Christopher and Tiina, Jonathan and Sarah); Marnie Litchen, (Julie); Kathy and Jonathan Edmondson (Caroline, Katie and Christopher); Marilee and Randy Hornung (Alexander and Nicholas); Dawn and Roger Boucher (Tracy and Matt, Sharon and Geoff); Faye and Bryan James; Jack and Susan Brady; David Brady; Allin and Patricia Brady (Allyson, Nathan and Adam). She was predeceased by her brother Don McDermott and his wife Nancy, her niece Heather Weston, brother-in-law Ben Weston, brother and sister-in-laws Al and Verna Brady and nephew, Howard Litchen. Other family and friends are numerous but there was always a special place in Mary’s heart for her lifetime friend and soulmate, Beryl Waghorn (Larry) and her beloved neighbours, Clyde, Elizabeth, Morgan and Leah Hillier.
We wish to express our thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Country Terrace who provided Mary with such loving and tender care in her final months.
There will be a celebration of Mary’s extraordinary life at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street (between Waterloo and Colborne Streets), London on Friday, November 1, 2019. at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Hospital in London would be appreciated.
