Obituary of Russell Eric Smith, Sgt. Ret.

Peacefully, at his home, on July 27, 2018, Russ Smith passed away in his 81st year. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine (nee Wadsworth) Smith. Russ will be deeply missed by his daughters April (John) Van Rys and Deborah Smith. Grandpa was loved by Matthew, Elizabeth (Renato), Bryan, Justin, Tony, Charlie, Rayne, and Hailey. Russ also leaves behind his brother George, and many nieces and nephews. Russ proudly served in the army for 21 years, and leaves a deep legacy of friendship. A celebration of Russ’ life will be held at King Street Community Church, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2 pm, with visitation held one hour prior. A private family inurnment will be held at Woodland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a memorial donation in Russ’s name are asked to consider the Poppy Fund.
