Obituary of Clara May Eckmier (Freeman)

Peacefully and unexpectedly at University Hospital on Friday, September 9, 2011, Clara May passed away in her 74th year. Loving wife of the late Ross Cecil Eckmier (2010) for over 45 years. Lovingly remembered by her god-daughter Nancy (Randy) McWebb & loving cousin to Ernest (Karon) Kerr. Beloved daughter of the late John & Annie Freeman and step-sister of John Freeman. Dear sister-in-law of Bill, Ronald (Jean), Isabel (the late Tom) Sawchyn, the late Marie (Delmer) Buchanan and greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, neighbors & friends. She will be dearly missed by her best friend Farley. Clara May was a Girl Guides of Canada leader for over 50 years. She was also an honourary Deacon & longtime secretary of Egerton Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east Egerton Street), on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in the Evans Chapel on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Snihur officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. Donations to Egerton Street Baptist Church would be appreciated.
