Obituary of William "Bill" Walter Wilson

Peacefully at L.H.S.C. University Hospital, William (Bill) Walter Wilson on Friday, April 16th, 2010 in his 78th year. Loving husband of Margaret Merriam. Predeceased by his first wife Marion (1992). Father of Sheree (Willy), Shawn (Patti), and Stuart (Carrie) and loving step-daughters Debbie Heddington (David) and Bonnie Sutherland (Brad). Proud Grandpa (`Dadoo`) of Sara, Kate (Calum), Sidney, Lucas, Cara (Sonny), Jordan and Mitchell. Great-grandpa of Storm. Brother of Mary Wilson of Guelph. Predeceased by his sister Shirley Roszell (Keith) of Elora. Bill will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, friends and by the Mackie & Merriam clans. Our dad taught us by example to care about others. Through his years of service to youth with The Optimist Club of Southeast London, thousands of kilometres driven for the Cancer Society and Jesse`s Journey, over a hundred blood donations, years acting as Santa`s helper at local schools and community centres on behalf of Jesse`s Journey and campaigning for the Liberal Party, Bill gave of himself for the benefit of others. He proudly cheered on the London Knights, never gave up on his beloved Leafs and was a card-carrying member of the East of Adelaide Club. Bill was a proud, loving and supportive father, grandfather, husband and citizen. We invite you to honour his memory with a donation to the Cardiac Fitness Institute, Jesse`s Journey or a charity of your choice, remembering always to `pay it forward`. Friends will be received at Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton St.) on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew Memorial Anglican Church, 49 Foxbar Rd. (at Wellington St.) on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Brian McKay officiating. Cremation to follow. Inurnment in Woodland Cemetery at a later date.
