Celebration of Laura's Life
Burial
Obituary of Laura Elizabeth Lowry Buchanan
October 30, 1951 – February 28, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Laura Elizabeth Lowry Buchanan announces her unexpected death of natural causes while on vacation in Belize. She was predeceased by her parents Ben and Ann (née Weldon) Lowry.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Nicholas (Lisa), Allison (Matthew), and her newest joy, granddaughter Nora. Big sister “Lo Lo” to Si (Wendy), Chris (Deborah) and Graeme (Kelly). Aunt Laura to Thea, Ben, Martha, Will, John, Mackenzie, Russel, and Hugh.
Laura grew up in London, Ontario, spent many happy years in Toronto, and recently returned to London, where she settled and established deep roots in the community. Laura’s brave and adventurous spirit, joie de vivre, and her insatiable curiosity always drew her to the path less travelled. As a young woman, she moved to Toronto to study and build a successful career at the CBC in the then-male-dominated field of television production. She was the consummate producer and problem-solver and a fierce advocate for the people she loved and the many charitable causes that moved her.
She loved the performing arts, history, and travel, and she relished planning her next adventure. Her wisdom, guidance, love, and generosity served as pillars for her friends, family, and colleagues. She was always there for sage advice and a good dose of laughter, and she leaves a legacy of cherished memories in the hearts of all she touched.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John The Divine Anglican Church,
21557 Richmond St., Arva, Ontario at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, for a celebration of Laura’s life. All are welcome.
