Obituary of Georgia Kyriakopoulos
Our beloved mother, Georgia, was not just a mother; she was our guiding star. On October 29th, 2023, she gracefully departed this earthly realm, leaving behind a legacy of love and light. She was the cornerstone of our family, the one who lit up our lives with her unwavering love, compassion, and wisdom. She held us close during our darkest nights and guided us through the stormy seas of life. Her love was boundless, her support unending, and her embrace the safest place in the world. As children, we were blessed to call her our mother. She taught us the power of kindness, the beauty of selflessness, and the strength in unity. Her lessons were not mere words but lived through her actions every day. She was not only our mother but also our best friend, confidante, and the source of endless warmth. She nurtured our dreams, wiped away our tears, and celebrated our victories with unwavering pride. Her love knew no limits, and it will forever shine in our hearts.
Predeceased by her husband Nicolaos (Nick) in 1996, Georgia leaves behind her daughter Maria Kalantzis (Peter) and Chris Kyriakopoulos (Leesa). She was also the proud grandmother of Dino, Nick, George, Nicole Gooding (Joshua), Olivia, Victoria, Vasilis, and great grandmother of Leo. Georgia was predeceased by her brothers Sotiris, Vasilis, Georgios and Thanassis Alevizos. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Born in Thana, Greece, she immigrated to Niagara Falls, Canada in December 1960, where she was introduced to her future husband Nicolaos. Our family was raised in the small Southwestern Ontario town of Tillsonburg, Ontario where she worked side by side with my father in his or his and his brothers many entrepreneurial ventures specializing in foodservice. She made Tillsonburg her home for 60 years remaining there even after our father’s passing. Mom was an independent lady who was a proud person. Her accomplishments were limitless including and not limited to receiving the 1999 Ontario Volunteer Services Award and supporting the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church/Philoptochos and community.
Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit lives on as the beautiful star guiding us through the darkest nights. We will forever cherish the memories we created together and honor her by living the values she instilled in us. Mom, you will never be forgotten.
