Obituary of Alan Cohen
Alan Cohen, 95, was a London boy his whole life, living, working and serving there for 88 years. He moved to Toronto a couple of years after his late wife Phyllis passed away. Alan died peacefully in his home on Thursday evening March 2, 2023 with his daughters Sari, Deb, and Susan. Alan was dedicated to rights for all, organizational growth, and business innovation. Young Canada children’s department store was part of many Londoners’ lives from more than 40 years. Clothes, toys, Christmas party gifts… remember the curvy mirrors? Alan was a pioneer in community development, from the Interfaith group of his early adult years to non-profit organizations nationwide, to his long-standing consulting work with CSAL. He was a true leader. In his later professional years with Phyllis, he volunteered internationally helping NGOs in Bratislava, Kazakhstan, and Moscow open to a future of business after the Soviet Union fell. He and Phyllis had a life of travel and art together, curious and lifelong learners. Alan lit up when engaging with new ideas. He had collaborators across many fields and generations. He treasured his deep and longstanding friendships. It was wonderful to see him amongst his grandchildren and the little ones who always brought warmth to his heart with a big smile.
A funeral service will be held at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St.,
on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. with Rabbi Debra Dressler officiating.
The Logan Funeral Home will be providing a live stream service at the time of the ceremony.

Interment to follow in Restmount Temple Israel Cemetery.
