Obituary
Obituary of Susan (Sue) Cavender
After a short, but courageous battle with cancer, Sue passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on September 18th, at the age of 71.
Much loved soul mate, best friend and wife of Butch/Harry for 55 years. Very proud Mom of Beth (Jack) Roberts, Kevin Cavender, Wendy (Paul) Feron, Chris (Nancy) Cavender, Tammy (Jim) McGrady and Cathy Cavender. Very special Nana to Jennifer (Brad) Skeggs and great-grandaughter Addison, Jason Roberts, Briana and Braden Cavender, Alexandra and Meghan Feron, Hayden and Callia Cavender, Alicia and Jimmy McGrady.
Born and raised in Windsor, ON Sue and Butch met and married at the tender age of 15 and had 6 children by the age of 26. In addition to raising a large family, Sue worked as a legal secretary. Music has always been an important part of her life - she was the Organist and Choir Director at Precious Blood Church and then St Clare Church in Windsor. In 1969, she was the spokesperson and director of a spiritual folk group called The Youngfolk. They recorded an album in 1970 and introduced 'Folk Masses' to several Churches in Southwestern Ontario, in addition to singing at weddings, coffee houses, conventions and private parties. After moving to London, Sue was a Choir Director at Mary Immaculate Church for 15 years, then at St. Michael's Church for the past 15 years.
With their strong faith and huge capacity to share their love and friendship, Sue and Butch were actively involved in COR, being 'Mom & Dad' to hundreds of teens over a period of 10 years. For over 30 years, they have also openly shared their experiences with engaged couples in the Marriage Preparation courses, through the Catholic Church.
