Obituary of Ron Russell
Peacefully, at home on Saturday, October 27, 2018, Ronald A. N. Russell of St. Thomas at the age of 84.
Loved and sadly missed by his daughter Nancy (Gerry) Verberne. Loving grandfather of Matthew (Que) and Jodie. Deeply loved and fondly remembered by his partner and best friend Judy Dunphy. Predeceased by his wife Darlene Margaret, parents J.A. Art & Anne Russell, also by his sister Carmen and her husband Percy and nephew Brian Floyd.
Ron was a retired employee of the Ford motor company-Talbotville and spent 24 years proudly serving at the Ford assembly plant in St. Thomas. Ron also had a second career running trains at PSTR Port Stanley for over 20 years and running and repairing steam engine # 9 at (SOLOR) in St. Thomas. Ron deeply enjoyed his time at both companies, and when he wasn't at work he was with his family cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Ron was a devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion-Victory Branch # 317 along with Judy and volunteered any chance he could to help the organization that he cared for so deeply.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario (between Colborne & Waterloo St.) on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.
Memorial service will be conducted in the Logan Chapel on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
(Legion service will be conducted prior to memorial service at 10:45 a.m.)
Interment of ashes will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London, Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron can be made to the London Humane Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
