Obituary
Obituary of Mae Lillian (Jolly) Malpage Jolly)
It is with sadness that the Malpage and Graham families announce the passing of Mae (Meme) in her 84th year on January, 29 2013 at Middlesex Terrace.
Mae will be sorrowfully missed by her husband of 52 years Ralph Malpage who faithfully spent his days visiting with his wife over the last few years when she was no longer able to live in their residence. As a mother and step mother she is loved and will be missed by her children Richard Graham, Paul Graham (Esther), Rosanne Malpage, David Malpage (Donnalynn) and Robin Malpage (Anne). Mae is also survived by her loving big brother George Jolly, grandchildren Anne Rodgers, Colin Graham, Ainsley Graham, Jessica Malpage, Pamela Seguin and Nicole Haney as well as 5 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces in Canada and the United States.
Friendships were also very important to Mae starting in her childhood and in later years where she continued to forge these lifelong relationships. Mae was predeceased by her parents Harold and Gerry Jolly, her beloved sister Florence Parker and step daughter Brenda Malpage. Born in Bengough Saskatchewan, Maes' parents and siblings moved to Regina then to Brantford Ontario. Mae finally settled in London Ontario where she began her journey of raising a family, working and living a full and productive life. One could write a book on her many accomplishments. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Luckily for many of us in the family Mae was a big fan of Geneology, taking her research to Europe and Great Britain to visit the homes of her parents and ancestors and then painstakingly writing down every bit of information and sharing it with her children and grandchildren.
Mae was an avid bowler belonging to many leagues receiving many awards and proudly establishing herself as an excellent team player and friend. She belonged to the Historical Society of London for many years. Mae faithfully attended her TOPS meetings hoping that the piece of pumpkin pie she had enjoyed the day before would not give her away. Mae was a lady who followed the rules of proper etiquette as many family and friends had experienced receiving her cards of thanks after a gift, invite to dinner or attendance to a special occasion. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries etc. of every person that touched her life, you could always expect a card in the mail. Mae could bake like no other. She had a great sense of humour and was always willing to share a joke or two. Her work took her to Bell Canada, 3M, Westinghouse of Canada and lastly to the old London City Jail where she worked as a matron.
The family gives thanks to the staff of Middlesex Terrace for the love that they showed Mae during her residence there. At Maes' request cremation has taken place.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Maes' life which will be held Saturday February 2, 2013 at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, (between Waterloo and Colborne), Visitation will be from 1-2pm with a memorial service to follow in the chapel. Interment to follow at a later date. Mae kindly requests that in lieu of flowers that donations could be made to London Women's Community House or Diabetes Association.
A tree will be planted, by the Logan Funeral Home, as a living memorial to Mae Malpage.
