He continued his interest in psychology with his work as a Capacity Assessor. He fought cancer with determination and a strong will for 2 ½ years. Struggling through surgeries and ongoing chemotherapy with courage and a strong will.

Julian enjoyed his grandchildren who gave him great joy. Spoiling them as much as possible, reading to them, playing with them and instilling in them his love of music. He enjoyed his retirement listening to and studying his extensive collection of classical music, examining the composers and artists. Reading and learning were always important to him, studied history and how politics affects the world during the second world war and in modern times. He also read and studied extensively physics and astronomy as well as humour and political satire. He enjoyed traveling with Carol and exploring new places. He was proud of his British background, a man of strong opinions who never hesitated to express them to those he knew well.
