Stella, I am so sorry for your loss, and am so grateful that you and Murray had so many good years together. You and Murray were one of a very few group of people who were friends with my parents both as a couple and individually, and, although I cannot really explain why that is so special to me, trust me that it is, and you both hold a very special place in my heart. I am so glad you took the time to find me and wait for me to be sort-of free, when you visited St. Thomas. One of the real perks of that job was the opportunity to see and connect with people from all the various parts of my life, none so meaningful as those from London. Your loss is huge. May your family, friends and years of happy memories sustain you through this time. My love to you, Mina

Our prayers are with you during this time of grieving. My mom,Mary Benny, worked as a live-in housekeeper/nanny with the Leff family when Murray was 10 years old (she was only 17). She told us that one day she was dusting and she dropped a bowl and it broke. When Mrs. Leff got home Murray told her that he had broken it so mom wasn't blamed. We always thought it was very special that a child of 10 would show such empathy and kindness to my mom. Mom died a few years ago but she always remembered that kindness. God Bless your family. Ron

I would like to express my deepest sympathy at this time to the Leff family. May knowing you are not alone in your time of sorrow help give you strength for today and new hope for tomorrow. Murray's kindness to others will never be forgotten, as many years ago, he shared his TV's with sound in his store window. We stood as children with many parents, watching the Ed Sullivan show, on a Sunday night weather permitting, with ice cream from the Jumbo ice-cream parlor. Of course as soon as our family could afford a TV you know it came from Leff's. Years later I also worked for Mrs. Leff doing hairdressing in homes, that was quite an experience, but she was the only one that would hire me with no experience, and I still laugh many, many years later. So today may you take comfort in knowing there are arms ready to hug you and hearts that are open with understanding and with sympathy. Nancy Scriver (nee Finnigan)

So very sorry to hear of Murrays passing. Our father Law Chantler of Premier Trust Co. was friends and played golf with Murray. My brother Bob and I tried to visit Murray when we could at GMS on Dundas St. We didn't get to the new location. Murray was a great man (as you know) with a great sense of humour and always had a kind word about our father. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families at this time.

Sorry to hear of Murray's death. He rented us our first store location at 451 Dundas Street, even lowering the rent the first two years for our cleaning the place up. We appreciated his wry sense of humour when he asked how we were going to pay the rent by selling wooden spoons. He made sure that Ann and I were invited to a party in that first year where we met many people who became our customers. Murray and Stella were an unbeatable combination.
