Obituary of John Kourtessis

Peacefully, at Providence Manor Nursing Home, Kingston, on Saturday, July 22, 2017. John Kourtessis, of Kingston, passed away at the age of 90 years. Loving husband of the late Christina Kourtessis (2011) and father of Sofia & her husband Keith Mowat of Kingston. Dear brother of Jim in Greece & Polly in Regina, SK, and many brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law in Greece & Canada. Predeceased by sisters Matina & Vasiliki, both in Greece, and many sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law in Greece & Saskatchewan. Also survived by many nieces & nephews in Greece & Canada and many friends in Regina, SK & Greece. John was born in Paralion Astros, Greece, to his parents Albert & Sofia Kourtessis. As a young man he worked in the village as a fisherman. In 1957 John & Sofia immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, where John began his career in the hospitality industry. John began as a dishwasher until working his way all the way up to head banquet chef of a major Regina hotel. Funeral service will be conducted in the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario, on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario.
