Obituary of Grant Evans
Evans, Grant- At University Hospital, London, on Sat July 25. Grant was in his 66th year. After a sudden decline in his health he was admitted to hospital, but after a 5 month battle, finally succumbed. Son of the late Arthur Evans and Phyllis Evans. He is survived his cousins Richard Evans(Brenda) and Gary Wain(Jan) of Allenford, Ontario, Marjorie Culbert(Tom) of Kincardine, Ontario, Anne Moffat of North Bay, Ontario, Mary Lou Evans(Dennis) of Vancover B.C., William Bill Evans(Shelly) of Victoria, B.C., Allan Koehler(Sue) of Guelph, Ontario, and Barry Koehler(Mary) of Richmond, B.C. He is predeceased by his cousin John “Jack” Evans(Pat) of Owen Sound, Ontario. Grant was a superb lawyer, and received highest honors in his class. His extraordinary cognitive abilities enabled him to recite legal passages from memory, and his fiery style earned him a unique place in legal circles. He could perform many feats of mental prowess especially in mathematics. Grant had a love of chess and when he wasn’t studying law, he was at the chess club or in a tournament playing. His chess style was one of a kamikaze. Grant used to say that as long as his opponent was more confused than he was he was doing ok. Grant leaves behind many people whom he helped, especially in legal circles, many times free of charge. Friends Don Armstrong, John Zoccano, David Jackson say thank you for all the laughs, the good times, and all the times you helped us when we needed it. After a very tough latter part of you life, your rest is now well earned. You were unique and will not easily be forgotten. A memorial service will be held at LOGAN FUNERAL HOME, 371 Dundas Street (between Waterloo and Colborne), Friday July 31, at 1pm with visitation one hour prior. Online condolences can be expressed at www.loganfh.ca.
