Obituary of Orah Judith Medzon

Orah Judith Medzon (nee Beres) passed away in her 72nd year from complications of Multiple Myeloma, on August 19, 2009. Loving wife for 48 years of Edward (Ted), mother of Debi (London), Ron (Boston), and David (Vancouver), grandmother of Daniel and Noah Miller-Medzon and Nadav and Elianna Bloch. Born in Haifa, Israel, on July 18, 1938, she immigrated with her parents Charlotte and Rudy and brother Eytan to Canada in 1953, attended school in Montreal and McGill University. Her interest in science stemmed from her studies at McGill University, as a research technician at Victoria hospital, Montreal, and her Laboratory Technologist degree from Fanshawe College and research in Chemistry at UWO. She became a gourmet cook and studied nutrition at Brescia College, UWO. Besides her devotion to her children, she was an avid reader, artist, card, Mahjong and word game player. She was a devoted supporter of Israel as a member of Hadassah Wizo, Gan Gani Nursery School, London Community Hebrew Day School, and Beth Tefilah Synagogue. She used her multi-lingual talents in German, Hebrew, English, Spanish and French on her travels with Ted to 6 continents. She maintained life long contacts with friends and relatives in Canada, United States, Europe and Israel. She is survived by her immediate family, and daughter-in-law, Karyn Miller-Medzon, sister-in-law Sharon Promislow, nieces Elana McDonald, Alana Beres, and nephews Sean Promislow, Joshua Beres, and Jonathan Beres. Services will be held at Congregation Beth Tefilah, 1210 Adelaide St. North, at 1:30 P.M., Friday, August 21, 2009. Burial will be at Or Shalom Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Mogen David Adom, or to the Medzon Family Fund of the London Jewish Community Foundation.
