Dear Barabra: So sorry to hear of the passing of Gordon. He was one of my favourite customers when I worked at TD Canada Trust at 1030 Adelaide St North. Mr Ullercik wrote me a letter from your Florida home one winter with concerns about an issue he was having (thought this might jog your memory as to who I am. I retired 2 years ago this month. You and Mr Ullerick came to say goodbye and left me a lovely bud vase with peach roses. It was really appreciated. I am sure his passing has left a large void in your life. The obituary was well done. Please except my sympathy Joan Irwin

Dana and family, Very sorry to hear about your loss. I have limited experience to be able to draw on to be able to assist you in this difficult time. Sandi and I send our condolences to Barbara and the family. We have many fine memories of Gord and the years we worked together - especially at Oakridge and at Principals' Council meetings and functions. Gord was a reliable, friendly, and supportive colleague. He always knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish and he was good at mentoring others. He usually had a twinkle in his eye, and he wanted the best things for his students. We held him in high regard. He will be greatly missed.

Dana - our hearts go out to you and your family during this difficult time. It will be the little things - the small, everyday occurrences that you will remember. The laughs, the smiles, the stories he told ... these memories along with the support of family and friends will help lessen the pain and give you strength in the days ahead.

I was very sorry to hear of Gord's passing. I will always remember him with respect and affection, as he was the most capable, compassionate principal I was privileged to work with during my 31-year teaching career. The consummate professional, Gord created an atmosphere of calm - not an easy thing to achieve in a building filled with teens! - at Oakridge Secondary School, where I arrived as a young teacher in 1985. The fact that Gord was such a capable captain of his ship, left his staff free from unnecessary stress, and able to give our "all" to the kids in our care. I learned a lot about good leadership from him. Always his own man, Gord never let the opinions of others interfere with his own code of ethics; he always acted according to his own conscience. I respected him so much for that. Ever the compassionate father-figure, he was there for me in 1987, when I lost my fianc and needed to know that it was "okay" to grieve my own loss and rely on the support of others for a bit. He made a difference in all our lives, and I will never, ever forget him. I am certain that he will rest in peace.
