Dear Mary: I was so sorry to learn of Sandy's death. He was one of life's finer gentlemen. I will think of you as you begin your new journey in life. It is certainly a road no one wants to travel. If you need the ear of a fellow traveller feel free to contact me. You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I wish to express my sincere condolences to you Mary and all of your family in the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, a great man and good friend, Sandy. Sandy was my boss at the London Free Press from 1983 to 1987, and I can clearly remember two things about him: he was a loving and caring family man, and as well the best boss I ever had. He is gone from us way too soon, and I will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers will forever be with your family Mary. John Loebach

My sincere condolences Mary and all family members. I met Sandy many years ago, when I worked at Netmar as a College Co-op Student. Sandy always was gracious with his time to chat with me to see how I was doing and to ask for my opinion. He had a wonderful spirit about him and it was infectious to others. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Tim

Mary and Family: A voice from the distant past and perhaps you dont remember me, however, I was compelled to say a few words. I was one year behind Sandy from Margaret Jenkins, and both Oak Bay Junior and Senior High Schools but we interacted a great deal through both our mutual love of sports and our common friends in Oak Bay and at Shawnigan Lake. We missed each other at the University of Western Ontario. I learned yesterday in the Globe and Mail and through e-mail messages from my Victoria friends that Sandy had died. This announcement has brought back very positive memories of him in those years that I describe above as kind and gentle and with a big smile, but with a passionate drive towards the basket. I trust that memories of happy family times will support you now and during the months and years to come. John Youson

What a surprise to wake up to on my Saturday Free Press read. You were a great boss, a mentor and a true friend. Outside of work, he taught me 1 lesson. "Show me a man who is a good loser and I'll show you a man playing golf with his boss." I will remember those days forever. Rest in peace Sandy.

Mary, just want you to know you are in our thoughts and our hearts are heavy. The courageous battle is now over and Sandy is at peace. His acceptance of the challenges he faced was remarkable and we know that made it a lttle easier for everyone around him. Nevertheless we were not truly ready for the news when it came. Beth and I will plan a dinner at what had become our mutual restaurant for the four of us - La Brasserie - and celebrate Sandy's life and the long time friendship the four of us shared. In the summer we would like to travel to Shawnigan Lake and see Sandy's special place. Love.

Dear Mary and family I was shocked and saddened to read that Sandy had passed away you may not remember me but I ran n the Victoria Penny saver for a few years in fact I stayed at your home in London. Those were heady years building the company a time none of us will ever forget. Sadly our business relationship came to an end and Sandy and I never spoke again I am so gratified to see that you and Sandy have had such a wonderful life together being blessed with grandchildren and enjoying golf in California One of the best golf games I ever had was a match play against Sandy at the Hunt Club which of course Sandy won on the last hole.. of course He will be sorely missed but it was a life well lived
