Obituary of Donald Ross Moorcroft

Born in Toronto in 1935, Don died at home in London, Ontario on Jan 14, 2015 after a long struggle with cancer. He is sorely missed by his wife Regine, his children Marc, Annemarie (Mischa), Cecilia (Mike) and his adapted family Gordon, Peggy (Larry) and Carol. Don lived a rich and vibrant life. He was intensely interested in everything. His intellectual and working life was dominated by his love of physics and he spent 37 years as a loved a respected physics professor at the University of Western Ontario. In his private life he was deeply involved with music, becoming a keen and accomplished amateur musician. After looking at art and architecture all his life he discovered his artistic side as a photographer after retirement. In nature he loved birds, mountains and his property on Manitoulin Island most. A funeral service for family and close friends will be held at Logan’s Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St, London, ON from 10:00 – 10:30 am, Monday Jan 26, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 am in the chapel. A memorial service will also be held at the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, 101 Windemere Rd at 2:30 pm on Jan 26 (bring indoor shoes). Please make a donation to the London Community Orchestra instead of sending flowers. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Donald Moorcroft.
