Obituary of Michael John Diamond

Passed away peacefully at his home in London, ON, surrounded by his loving family. Michael leaves behind his wife Eunice (Schulman), sons Paul and Gregory (Dianne), and daughter Cynthia (Olavi). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Jacob, Anna, Vanessa, Lily, and Natalie. Michael was born in Leeds, England, to parents Miriam and Maurice Diamond. He completed medical school and served as a paratrooper in the British Army. In 1958, he emigrated to Canada and practiced anaesthesia in Montreal, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, and London. He later worked for 2 years at the Health Protection Branch in Ottawa and then retired to Bayfield for 9 years, joining the Professional Photographers Association. Michael was an active Freemason for 48 years, belonging to Oakridge Lodge No. 708, St. John’s Lodge No. 209, and Heritage Lodge No. 730 (Cambridge); and served a term as Grand Registrar. He used his remarkable intelligence to advance medicine and kindly serve his patients. He pursued his numerous interests with vigour and made us all laugh with his wonderful sense of humour. We will all miss his beautiful smile. Funeral to be held at Or Shalom Synagogue, 534 Huron St., Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Or Shalom Cemetery. Shiva at 1037 Patricia Street, London. Masonic service on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Byron Masonic Temple, 1292 Commissioners Rd. W. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to a charity of your choice.
