I will always remember Bill - He had a great sense of humour - just look at the picture in the obituary!!! And he had determination!!! The city decided to let a local developer to fill in the Byron Bog - a natural area within the city -- and prepare for housing development. Bill decided - "NO way!!!" He began lobbying city hall, largely all by himself at the beginning. And he succeeded and the city now has a significant natural area where people and especially students can enjoy nature within the city. Now some may disagree such as those in the imediate surrounding area because the deer which live in the bog area come into their property and feed on the vegetables, the grass and the shrubs. I last saw Bill about a year ago - he was 'shuffling' to his car having attended a seniors meeting held on the campus. So we stopped to chat and I said to Bill " Hey, are getting in shape for the Boston Marathon?" I have forgotten his reply but it was in his usual jokular responce. Just look at his picture in this obituary. He will be remembered

Bill Judd was a rare breed - always interesting, friendly and willing to share his knowledge of so many subjects. He identified trees, plants, insects and even helped me on my family's genealogy. I remember him netting butterflies when we were both young and he could always identify them for me. Unfortunately I cannot remember them now but I know he could have done so. His mind was so sharp and luckily stayed that way. Frank joins me in wishing you memories that will bring you comfort and keep Bill close in your hearts. Just know that for every joy that passes something beautiful remains. With love, Joyce Boore

I send condolences to all members of his family. In particular, I well remember happy days with his brother, Alan. A good friend when needed! John Ligertwood

What a great full life Dr.Bill Judd lived. I always had the greatest respect for him, and I liked him a lot. He and his wife, and all the Judd family were great next door neighbours. I also had the pleasure to be his student briefly at U.W.O. He was an outstanding scientist, and an all-around wonderful man. My sincere sympathies to the Judd family. Commitments out of town will prevent me from attending services, but you are in my prayers. Sincere Sympathies, Pat O'Brien

I have fond memories of Dr. Judd from the class he taught (Invertebrate Zoology), from his encyclopedic knowledge of world cities at Zoology Christmas Parties - but mostly from a summer spent working with him as a research assistant on a field survey of terrestrial isopods and his endless devotion to the Byron Bog.
