Marnie and I remember Herb so fondly. He employed me as a student-in-accounts from '56-'59 and I will always be grateful for his patience and help. As I write this, I'm listening to The Met's Rodelinda and remembering Herb.

Alan: Please convey my condolences to your family, your mother and your brothers. I worked for "Mr. P" as accountant of the London Arcade years ago when you had just established your Microwave company. Your Dad was a shining example of high work ethics and a exemplary love of family and his faith. I have learned so many work ethics from him and used them during my 32 years of being in business. I walked in his office many days, had tremendously helpful conversations with him but one day Mr. P. said to me "one day you are going to walk into my office, shut the door and tell me you are leaving". I thought at the time that he knew something I didn't. After many a conversation it was clearly revealed to me that he believed in people who strived to be better, to improve life and to soar and he said he saw those qualities in me and that it would only be a time that I would start my own business. His attributes remain with me today and still become a focus of my conversations with other. Your dad, "Mr. P." believed in the sound message - "pay forward". I will treasure his memory and his belief in life, family, faith and happiness. I will fondly remember his little brown bag lunch with his banana sticking out every day. For a man that could afford the world, the world came to him and he embraced it. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and I thank God for the memory and opportunities that this wonderful, funny, compassionate man showed me in the way he lived life.

Dear Bernice and family, I have many fond memories of my year with Herbie as his first apprentice in the London, King St. office. We enjoyed great classical music in the car as we travelled together to Brantford, Chatham & the Cadillac Hotel in Blenheim. I had just become the tenor soloist for the Bach Festivals at the old Aeolian Hall beside Logan's. I appreciated that Herby let me do much more than add columns, as my friends with other firms mostly did for their first year. Herby showed me how to select the best restaurants(those who had real Heintz Ketchup on the table)and even told me how to call "the Wizard". I was sorry to leave him, but teaching was in my blood and I taught every grade from Kindergarten to first year college, before becoming the K-13 Supervisor of Mathematics for the London Bd. of Ed. Thanks to Herby I was able to do Income Tax returns for the family until last year. I had deep repect for Herby and also feel your loss. Sincerely, Brock
