"Class never runs scared. It is sure-footed and confident. It can handle whatever comes along. Jacob had it. Esau didn't. Symbolically, we can look to Jacob's wrestling match with the angel. Those who have class have wrestled with their own personal angel and won a victory that marks them thereafter. Class has a sense of humor. It knows that a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations. Class never makes excuses. It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes. Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small, inconsequential sacrifices. Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money. Some wealthy "blue bloods" have no class. While some individuals who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it. Class is real. It cannot be faked. Class is comfortable in its own skin. It never puts on airs. Class never tries to build itself up by tearing others down. Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse. Class can "walk with kings and keep its virtue, and talk with crowds and keep the common touch." (Rudyard Kipling) Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because that person is comfortable with himself. If you have class, you have it made. If you don't have class, no matter what else you have, it doesn't make much difference." Anonymous David Weldon was the epitome of this quote. He was a pleasure to have known and worked for. I am very much richer for that experience. My sympathies to his wife and family. I hope that they can take condolence in the fact that David was true class and will be missed by all that knew him.

We are thinking of you all at this sad time David was my Uncle and Great Uncle to Andrea and Tony and Great Great Uncle to Brenden, Spencer and Parker. My most vivid memories of him were at the farm in his smoking jacket with a cigar and cocktail. Be strong for each other now and take care of yourselves. I am in Mexico now for the winter so will try for a visit after the end of April. Love cousin Arlene

Doug, Kate, Susan, Mardie, and Tony, my sincerest heartfelt condolences to you for the passing of your Dad. He touched and helped so many, through business, charitable work, and the farm. He had a big heart, a great sense of humour, of which you've all been blessed with. I have fond memories of your Dad on sale day at the farm. The annual production sale was a big deal for us; we spent weeks preparing for it, and months grooming the show string. On that day your Dad had the biggest smile, not because we were constantly topping year on year averages (during the hay-day of taller and longer Angus), not because Prospect Bandolier 16F and Miss Morrison heifers were topping national sales, - but because he was in his element. He was more interested in how our consignors were doing, how their breeding strategies were working, and where they thought the future of the breed, the association, and the Royal needed to go. He was always more interested in how others were doing - the true mark of a compassionate gentlemen. He fueled my interest and passion for agriculture, so I`m humbled and grateful to have known such a fine gentlemen. Your Dad was a great man.
