Elizabeth Gelakis

Obituary of Elizabeth Gelakis

Passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving husband and surrounded by her family on Monday, June 2, 2014. Elizabeth was a courageous and passionate woman who immigrated from a small village in Greece, Valto-Xilokastrou, to pursue her dreams of fashion design. Together with her husband Nicholas of 57 years, they built Nicholas & Elizabeth Fashions to realize her dreams of high fashion. Her beautiful and caring hands designed and created some of the most beautiful wedding gowns and dresses in London, but she was most proud of those wedding gowns she created for her two daughters-in-law (Silvana and Nitsa). Elizabeth is survived by her husband Nicholas, her two sons Perry (Silvana) and George (Nitsa). Her grandchildren Alexander, Bianca, Nikos and Elizabeth will especially miss their loving Yiayia. Predeceased by brothers Panagiotis, Nikos, Basilis & Leonidis and sisters Angelikoula, Costatina & Athanasia. The family would like to thank Dr. Caroline Despard for her compassionate and excellent care and the Alzheimer’s Outreach Services at McCormick Home for always making Elizabeth feel so special.
