Obituary of Cornelius "Casey" Van Der Loo
Peacefully in his 93rd year on Sunday, June 16 at Mount Hope LTC, surrounded by family and his cherished wife Netty (nee Brekelmans) of 66 years. Casey was born in Udenhout, The Netherlands September 8, 1926 to Wilhelmus and Johanna (Weijtmans). He emigrated to Canada with his beloved bride in 1952, working one winter in Thedford before settling in London, Ontario.
Loving father of Johanna (deceased infant), Joan (Ken), Jerry, Ken (deceased first wife Bushra, Nusrat) and Steve. Dear Opa of Scott, Lindsey (Brad) and Nik; Leigh, Jennifer and Elizabeth; Tariq (Euriklida) and Aisha; Cameron, Sean and Joseph; Owen and Cassandra. Great Opa to Elise, Charlie, Fletcher and Audrey. Dear eldest brother to Anton (Ria Mutsaers) both deceased; Riet deceased(d); Annie (Wiebe Bakker-d); Nellie (Jan van Geene-d); Mien (Harrie Schoenmakers-d); Fransje; Corrie (Bertus Schoonus); Leo (Anny de Jong); and, Henriette (Arie). Remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Canada, The Netherlands and the United States. Dad had a passion for flying in the two planes he built. He loved camping and travel in his new homeland, astronomy, fossil-hunting, trees and caring for plants in his home. He had a life long thirst for knowledge and Dad's accomplishments demonstrated his great ingenuity, skill and perseverance which his family had the privilege of witnessing with great pride throughout our lives together. Join us for Casey's interment at the grave site in St. Peter's Cemetery, 806 Victoria Street, London on Tuesday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at Mount Hope Centre for LTC, entrance at 200 College Avenue at 11:30 a.m.
