Obituary
Obituary of Emilia Diaz Becerra
Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on May 2, 2022 Emilia passed away at the age of 82. Separated from Jose Luis Becerra, but eternal friends. Best mother in the world to Jose Becerra, Dolores Becerra (Len Onifrichuk) and Lidia Becerra (Steven Thomas). Abuela of Kristena, Makayla, Isabella, Benjamin and Jordan. Sister of Julian Diaz Gurumeta and the late Gregorio Diaz Gurumeta. Emilia will forever be in the hearts of many extended family and friends.
Emilia was a Mother, a Grandmother, a Wife, a Sister, a Daughter, and a Friend to many of us. She loved unconditionally and gave all that she could. Her family was her entire world! She would just sit in the background watching and listening quietly to our loud chatter. She didn’t have a selfish bone in her body and always looked for the good in everyone.
Her faith and her commitment to the church was unbreakable. Whenever anyone was struggling or in need, she prayed for them, she prayed for solutions for them. Even though she had her own struggles, she always looked out for others before herself.
Emilia was an amazing Seamstress and loved to sew – many times she would tell us over and over how she made her first dress when she was only 8 years old. In her final months in this world, she kept herself busy by making pillows, reusable bags, couch-tissue boxes and little purse bags. She would make them and gift them to everyone – family, friends and even strangers. Hoping it would help with an aching back or the carrying of one’s groceries. She also made the most amazing "tortilla española" which we tried so many times to duplicate but never succeeded in making it as delicious as she did.
Everyone who knew her, loved her dearly. Emilia will be dearly missed by so many people – but most of all by her family.
Mom, your love and strength will continue to guide us – we hope we have made you proud and you will always be by our side. This is not goodbye, wherever you are you will always be in our hearts, and we will love you beyond forever!
