Obituary of Ramona "Mona" Jean Aitken (nee McGill)
Peacefully, at LHSC, University Hospital on Thursday, July 7, 2022, Ramona "Mona" Aitken passed away at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of the late J. David "Dave" Aitken. Loving mother of Janice Patresa Sinclair and Kathy (Paul) Spring. Dear grandmother of Sean Hugh David (Michelle) Sinclair and Jonathan Lewis (Melissa) Sinclair. Great grandmother of Olivia Audrey Sinclair and Carter Lon Michael Sinclair. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Neil & Theresa (née Cornish) McGill, brothers and sisters Freeman (Ruth & Millie) McGill, Anne (Howard) McLean, Wilma (Jim) Johnston, Donald (Dixie) McGill, Lawrie (Karen) McGill and brother and sister in law Douglas & Ruth Aitken.
Mona was born in Usborne Twp., Huron Co. on March 29, 1929. She had a passion for genealogy and gardening, and will be fondly remembered for her dedication and research of family trees (on both sides of the family) along with documenting and recording of headstones at cemeteries across southwestern Ontario. Mona's clerical training took her to London where she worked for the Boy Scouts of Canada where she would meet her future husband J. David Aitken. Mona enjoyed many years as a cub leader and a girl guide leader, all which took place at Metropolitan United Church. Mona was an active member of Metropolitan United Church teaching Sunday school and attending various UCW meetings. Mona's clerical and mathematical skills lead her to her book keeping profession notably with Canadian Pools and Framing & Art.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Marko Mrkobrada of LHSC, University Hospital for all his care and support.
