Obituary of James (Demetri) Makrakos
James Makrakos, in his 96th year, fell asleep in the Lord with family at his side on Tuesday December 6, 2022 at University Hospital in London. Born in Kidonitsa, Xirokambi, Greece, he came to London, Canada in 1954 and was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community. Loving husband of Koula Makrakos (Metsovas) for 68 years. Loving father of Paul (Joanne) and Pete (Georgia) Makrakos. Cherished grandfather of Demetri (Karina) Makrakos, Kyra (Derek) Kuiack, James and Alex Makrakos and great grandfather of Brooks Kuiack. Dear brother of Tony (Roula) Makrakos, Angela (the late James) Pilias,the late Bill and Katina Makrakosall of London and the late Theodore and Eleni Makrakos, the late Fanio and Gregory Valkanas of Greece. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received for visitation at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo and Colborne St.) on Thursday December 8, 2022 from 6 – 9 p.m. (Prayers in the Logan Chapel Thursday at 8pm). Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., on Friday December 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Father Konstantine Chatzis officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
