Obituary of Ann Bies

Peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 at McCormick Home, London, Ann Bies (nee Vantzelfden) passed away at the age of 77. Ann will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years Andy Bies, and by her loving daughters Lisa (Martin) Sarkar and Sandy (Dave) Dufton. Grandma was adored by her grandchildren Timothy, Amy, Finley, Siobhan and Desmond. Ann is survived by her siblings Florien (the late Ralph) Vercruysse, Corry (Jerry) Zwiers, Arie (Sandy) Vantzelfden and by her sister in law Barbara Vantzelfden. She was predeceased by her brother Peter Vantzelfden and her parents Arie and Audrey Vantzelfden. Ann devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. She and Andy enjoyed many years travelling to Florida in the winters and visiting their homeland of Holland. Ann was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St., London (between Waterloo & Colborne), on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Logan Chapel. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations in Ann's name are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Society or Dorchester VON.
