Obituary of Aldo Paul "Tony" Tonini
Aldo passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Victoria Hospital, on May 9, 2019, in his 96th year. Loving husband of June for over 72 years and cherished father of Aleta Smith of London, Velda (John) Ambrose of Toronto, Paul (Inge) Tonini of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Madeline (Don) Oldford of Cambridge & Ed (Joanne) Tonini of Charlotte, N.C. Dear grandfather of Rick Smith, Matt & Tony Ambrose, Jill & Adelle Tonini and Derek & Jonathan Oldford and great-grandfather of Sarah, Alex, Mico, Riley, Georgia, Annelise & Emerson. Predeceased by sister Betty D'Ambrosi & brother Eugene Bernardo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins in Canada and Italy.
Tony was the longtime owner of Acme Tile & Terrazzo. He was Past President and lifetime member of the Marconi Club, over 50-year member of the Business Club of London and longtime usher at St. Martin Catholic Church. Aldo loved vegetable gardening and the outdoors. He was a Canadian Army Lance Bombardier during WWII and met June while stationed in Dartmouth, N.S.
Special thanks to friends and neighbours, Aldo’s nurse, Jongphil Lee, and caregivers who have supported our dad during his illness and in his final hours at Victoria Hospital Critical Care.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Martin Catholic Church, 46 Cathcart St., London on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:45am. (Visitation in the church from 10:45-11:45am). Private interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
