Obituary of Stella Marie Hodge
Stella Marie Hodge, age 84, of London, passed away on Tuesday October 4, 2005, at Victoria Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre. Beloved wife of the late Robert Alexander Hodge, married October 4, 1947. Loving mother of Dr. Robert & Oda Hodge of Maple, Anne Towle & friend Ivan Coulthard of Mitchell, and David Hodge & friend Deb Carruthers of Richmond Hill. Loving grandmother to Michelle (Towle) & husband Chris Watson, and Denise Towle & friend Kevin Kirkpatrick. Dear sister of Jean Miles of London and Olga Landiak of Nipigon. Longtime friend to Tom Masters of London. Stella was born in Fort William, Ontario, on December 27, 1920, the daughter of the late Anna & John Landiak. Predeceased by sister Anne Koroniak and brother Peter Landy. Stella, originally named “Stefania” in Ukranian, worked during the war building planes in Fort William (now Thunder Bay, ON). She loved to sew and design clothes and worked in ladies fashion for many years. Also “loved dancing”. Later became a numistmatic member of several area clubs, later becoming O.N.A. president. She was a great advocate of education, often holding her audiences captive for hours while she lectured them. In later years, as the body started to fail, her mind and spirit stayed strong, “feisty” as some would say to the end. Friends will be received at the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton) on Saturday October 8, 2005, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow in the Evans Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences can be expressed at www.evansfh.ca .
