Tom and Pat Hodgson and Betty Kennedy posted a condolence
Sunday, August 3, 2014
We were very saddened to read in our church bulletin (HPC) that Murdo had passed away. He was my first minister to bring me to the Christian faith and I have many fond memories of him. He married my sister Betty and Art and also my brother Tom and Jean Robertson and also baptised most of our children. We have many fond memories of him as he came to Pitt Meadows in the summer to minister and my parents would often have him for a meal. We will all have happy memories of him and he often comes up in conversations. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time and may God comfort and bless you Tom and Pat Hodgson and Betty Kennedy.

Very saddened to hear the news. Many fond memories of Hamilton Road Church and growing up with Murdo's messages on Sundays. My parents Clinton and Evon Wright respected Murdo so much as our minister and friend.

Ron and I were very saddened to hear of the loss of your father. We remember him very well. I remember enjoying the church services where our small band played on occasion. Hamilton Rd Presbyterian was the first church my family (Lawrence) attended when we moved to London in 1952. Our condolences to you both and the rest of your family as well.

Murdo was welcoming and supportive of me as a new librarian at Crouch in 1976. I was fortunate to have met Murdo and others like Joyce and John Nelson who worked tirelessly for the Hamilton Road .

So many memories come to mind. The many acts of kindness, standing by my bedside in hospital as I recovered from surgery, coming to my home on the morning of my grandfathers death to offer words of comfort. The wonderful sermons giving guidance to help his flock deal with everyday living. His pride in his Scottish heritage. So many remembrances. Well done, Thou good and faithful servant.

My deepest sympathy to you Mrs. Pollock. I am a daughter of Pieter and Tina DeWit who attended the Presbyterian church in Mission BC back in the 1950's. I can still visualize the interior of that church and your husband preaching. He once told a story about the lasting consequences of sin, even when it has been forgiven; that I have never forgotten. If you can remember our family, I was the oldest daughter and you once invited me to have lunch with your girls after church. My father Pieter, was also born in 1922, but he passed away in 2007 and my mother in 1991. Thank you for the part that your family had in our family's life, and your kindness to us. You were responsible for my first understanding of the concept of years. You lent my mother a Reader's digest and just before you gave it to her you said, "O this is 1956, last years, let me get you the new one." That simple comment made me understand the concept of years. My the Lord be your strength in the coming days. Sincerely, Anne Booy
