It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Georgia Kokkinakos (Dimitropoulos) on July 3, 2020 in her 92nd year. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Parkwood Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Panagiotis Kokkinakos. Loving mother of Elias (Katerina) Kokkinakos and Eleni (Panagiotis) Vergiris. Dear grandmother of Panagiotis and Anastasios Kokkinakos, Maria (Perry) Bujouves, Steve (Eleni) Vergiris, Peter (Lisa) Vergiris. Proud great-grandmother of Evangelos, Panayiotis, Alexandros, Panayoti, Sofia, Penelope and Marilena. Dear sister of Dimitroula (the late George) Koumoutsidis, and Lily (Christos) Koumoutsidis, and predeceased by Vasiliki (the late Haralambos) Giannakopoulos. Dear Sister-in-law of Haralambos (Georgia) Kokkinakos, Dimitrios (Panagiota) Kokkinakos, and predeceased by siblings-in-law Panagiota (the late Stavros) Spyrakos, Stratis (the late Eleni) Kokkinakos, Nikonas (the late Nina) Kokkinakos, Georgios (Vasiliki) Kokkinakos, Anastasios (Eleni) Kokkinakos and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, US and Greece. Georgia was born on February 10th, 1929 in Riza, Lakonia, Greece to the late Panagiotis and Anastasia Dimitropoulos. From humble but proud beginnings. Georgia married her beloved husband Panagiotis and started a family in Amykles, Sparti, Greece before immigrating to Baltimore, Maryland in 1967. The family wishes to thank all the staff of Parkwood Hospital for their professional care and devoted attention to our mother as well as for their gentle and respectful kindness to her and to all of us. It will never be forgotten. Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W. on Monday, July 6th at 11 a.m. with Father Konstantine Chatzis officiating. As per directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, please be aware that protocols may preclude some being able to attend as numbers are limited. Interment to follow for immediate family only, at Woodland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of London or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
