Obituary of Carol-Lynn Burns
It is with sadness we tell you that following a four-day hospital stay, Carol-Lynn died on the afternoon of August 17, 2020. Carol-Lynn Burns , nee Einarson was born Jan.18, 1939 to Finnur and Jean Einarson in Yorkton, SK. The family lived in Kandahar, SK until 1954 when they moved to Dodsland, SK where Carol completed high school in 1956 & then earned a BScN from University of Saskatchewan in 1961. She worked for Victorian Order of Nurses in Moose Jaw, SK and then in Orillia, Ont. She next moved to London, Ont which was her home for the rest of her life. Carol’s nursing career in London was in the field of psychogeriatrics until her retirement in 1998.
Carol remained close with her family and friends in western Canada as well as in the US, travelling regularly to have time there with her parents, her brother and his family, extended family and friends. Carol also enjoyed traveling internationally, most recently to Marseilles, France for a week-long cooking course, combining her love of cooking with her enjoyment of travel. Another special trip was to Iceland to meet Einarson relatives with whom she remained close.
Carol was married from 1967-1973 to Dr.Stuart Burns & immediately became step-mother to 5 children! She was a stabilizing force in the family and always remained a supportive and loving stepmom.
Beloved canine companions in Carol’s life included Guy, Elska, and Sam . Artistic interests and pursuits encompassed painting, making & collecting miniature houses and furniture, and theatre. She was mechanically inclined & loved perusing hardware stores, a pastime in common with her brother Donovan. She was practical and possessed a wicked sense of humour and a generous heart. Gardening was another love of Carol’s and she kept a beautiful garden. She had a great appreciation for nature and received much pleasure observing animals - birds, rabbits, deer. Carol loved the change of seasons, her favourites being spring and fall.
Carol-Lynn is survived by niece Brenda Einarson, nephew Eric Einarson, step-daughters Elizabeth(Beth) Burns-Jones (Stephen) & daughter Carrie Anne, Katherine Burns, Christine Vines (Sam)
Carol also leaves a family of dear friends - Susan Agranove, Gwen Williamson, Liz Mignotte, Barb Williamson, & Cathy Munavish.
Carol was predeceased by brother Donovan Carl Einarson, nephew Jon William Einarson, infant brother Robert Grant Einarson.
